Summary of case
Following the murder of a senior police officer covert surveillance of a suspect produced poor quality tapes. These tapes were enhanced and competing transcripts produced for the trial and appeal.

Four competing transcripts were presented to the courts and compared. The appeal in part on the basis of the poor quality of the tapes was dismissed by the Canberra Supreme Court.
